11/03/2009 - Put the phone away. Seriously.

Have you watched the new Degrassi sneak peek that shows Holly J texting behind the wheel?
That scene kept popping into my head as I read this New York Times article (warning: it's upsetting) about Phillipa Curtis, a 22-year-old from England, who rear-ended another car while she was texting and killed Victoria McBryde, a 24-year-old fashion designer.
"Ms. Curtis said she believed she could drive and text at the same time, saying that she did not have to look at the keyboard or the screen to have a conversation. Like many phones, hers had predictive text -- the phone would fix spelling and find the right word if she typed in a rough approximation."The jury found her guilty, and she was sentenced to spend 21 months in a high-security prison.
Do you think that's a fair sentence? If you have a sec, check out the article before you decide.
